Encouragement

What does the word encouragement mean….the action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope.

We, at Moore Pediatric Therapy Services (MTPS), offer support, confidence and hope, Encouragement. We not only offer it to our clients but to their families and friends.

Today is my testimony that therapy works. My daughter now 17, didn’t talk until she was 3 years old. Not a word, other that ugh, to get what she wanted. She started therapy, at the age of 1, our therapists came to our home every week for Speech and Occupational Therapies. They made it fun for her, encouraging her to get what she wanted and giving us, the family, hope. And she did. Her favorite things were learning new words to help her communicate, through Sign Language and frogs to help with her fine motor skills.

At her age the frogs were a game, something she looked forward to, to play with her new friends (therapists) once a week. She was so excited to play with them. She finally got it, at 3, she spoke her first sentence, not just a word but a sentence. She was sick and said, “Mommy, I don’t feel good.” Not sure who was in more shock me or her. Now at the age of 17, she still continues to sign, she has made numerous non-hearing friends. A hearing person knowing sign gives some non hearing friends courage, to be accepted in this hearing world. She was accepted into the gifted program at school in the third grade and continues to excel in Honors and AP classes at PC.

I hope that is encourages you, She encourages me daily to see that we all can accomplish and even excel in life through the simplest of things, such as frogs.
